My
first music CD review and I'm debating whether I should be doing
an opinion of each of the 10 tracks or of the whole thing, citing
particular pieces of special interest.
For the record, this
is the work and 5th CD of solo artist and Norwegian, Bjorn Lynne,
who currently resides in Yorkshire. This is also my first time hearing
his material.
I'm never quite sure
why psychedelic-electronic music gets an immediate association with
SF. I mean, most of the great SF films use classical music. There's
a lot more guitar than synthesiser on this CD, so I can understand
why it's confusing to differing musical tastes.
Saying that, The Void
doesn't jar on your soul and if you want something pleasant but
not too unobtrusive in the background as you're typing on your computer,
this will probably suit you.
Describing the music
per sec, is difficult. I tend to think of some of this as a blend
of Bladerunnerish crossed with Stuart Copeland, as he did the original
Babylon 5 pilot music, but much more laid back.
I wouldn't be inclined
to call this exciting music, but that can probably be attributed
to personal taste. The blurb that came with this CD describes it
as 'adventure music', whereas I see it as lounge music. If that
is your want, then this CD is for you.
