The Galactic Senate: polls & voting for July 2003

Nothing gladdens our heart more than to see democracy in action in the science fiction and fantasy world. If you feel the same, dear user, then here's our current and past online polls, as voted for by many a fine fellow (you too can vote, but choose wisely) ...

SF - Dumb or Dumblier?

Is science fiction loosing its social relevance ... simply mutating into a series of soap-fed adventure stories? Are we seeing less of works like 'Dune' on one hand, while the roster of SF-lite TV series and the literary endeavors influenced by them swells to orc horde-like proportions on the other?

Vote now ...

The orcs are coming, the orcs are coming. Yep, SFF has never been dumb and dumblier. Any socially relevant science fiction that is still being produced is, frankly, an accident that managed to slip past the editors and directors because they were just too thick to realize what it was.

Hey, things aren't that bad. Does anyone recall the 1940s Flash Gordon B-movies on the silver screen or the days of Fantasic Amazing Weird Tales and all those covers with beach models being groped by some terrifying looking robot? Socially releveant material still does get produced, and the proportion of it being produced is pretty much the same now as it ever was (and there's nothing wrong with adventure anyhow!).
