Any soundtrack composed by Lalo Schifrin has to be worth listening to. If the name doesn't sound familiar think of the original 'Mission: Impossible' music - probably one of the most recognised themes in the world - and amongst others, 'Dirty Harry' and 'Bullitt' - all available on CD if you know where to look. This is only Schifrin's second horror score and is somewhat a family affair as his son, Ryan, is the director of this film.
Since the film has only just come out and certainly not shown over here yet, I can only go by music and the 14 page foldout. 'Abominable' is a film about a Big Foot or sasquatch terrorising a forest holiday resort. It stars Matt McCoy, Lance Henrikson, Jeffrey Combs and Dee Wallace. The cast alone should have a lot of you checking the film out.
For soundtrack buffs, Schifrin's eighteen tracks are richly performed by the Czech National Symphony Orchestra. There are also an additional three tracks that appear to be either left out or alternative to the film. It isn't difficult to recognise the thumping drumbeats when Big Foot comes acalling and Schifrin makes the most of it in making for a truly interesting performance. If the film is as good as the music then it might be worth keeping an eye out for.
