'Joe 90' was always seen as the runt of litter of the Gerry Anderson series. These days, it would be frowned upon to allow even a brain-patterned enhanced pre-teen out doing espionage work. Saying that, the music Barry Gray provided for this series is some of his best and this CD covers the main themes and incidental music as well as for a lollipop commercial.

Unlike the other series, the Joe 90 theme permutes throughout through all the incidental music and demonstrates some of Gray's perchance for applying jazz techniques of changing tone and instruments. That isn't to say the tracks are solely that way, as there is also the complete piano tracks used in 'International Concerto'.

The sixteen page booklet has lots of photos, just a shame that the notes concentrate more on the episodes the music came from than the tracks themselves. One thing of note was Barry Gray writing adverts and other incidental music outside of the Anderson stable.

With the current access out there, I hope the producers are considering releasing these as well just to show how versatile a composer Barry Gray was. In the meantime, how long before we get 'UFO's soundtrack?
