Revu'ing Science Fiction

It’s rare we come across a site we like which makes extensive use of frames, but SFrevu does – and heck does it do it well. The left hand navigation frame sits nicely throughout the site and quickly allows you to jump about between issues and articles.

Less you think this is a technical critique – far from it – the main reason to visit SFrevu isn’t the design, it’s the content … of which there is ample, and regularly updated. Well, monthly anyway – which is fine (we’re bias of course, as that’s what SFcrowsnest goes for too).

It’s almost like a mini-Locus of SFchronicle, with columns, editorial, a SFTV Report, film previews, a DVD Report and lots of book reviews from the UK, Canada and USA.

These kind of ‘coming soon’ sections suck up a hell of a lot of person hours to keep them up to date, and SFrevu does it well and accurately.

The entire site is very well done, and knowing the near impossibility of turning a dollar from online content, is an obvious labour of love on the part of its crew.

Talking of which, when we popped around, Ernest Lilley, the editor, was writing about the New York bombing – an event which has been weighing heavily on many fans minds (not least ours, this month).

For any serious fan of science fiction, SFrevu.com should definitely find its way onto the bookmarks or favourites list.
