A.I. - Kubrick vs Spielberg
01/08/2001 Source: Jessica Martin

The Galactic Senate: polls & voting for August 2001.

Nothing gladdens our heart more than to see democracy in action in the science fiction and fantasy world. If you feel the same, dear user, then here's our current and past online polls, as voted for by many a fine fellow (you too can vote, but choose wisely) ...

A.I. - Kubrick vs Spielberg

Stanley Kubrick was one of the great ones ... 2001 was the first real attempt to do serious science fiction on the big screen. So now comes A.I. - the movie that would have been his last contribution to posterity ... if the old git hadn't pegged it, letting Steven Spielberg get his mitts on the rudderless project. So, now you have seen A.I. - is Stan smiling down on his last movie from heaven, or is he spinning in his grave?

Very intelligent! AI might not be the film that Stan would have produced, but he is well satisfied by the great SFX and intelligent world creation that underpins this fab movie. Thanks Mr Spielberg, there's an extra angel in heaven looking out for you now.

No intelligence at all! Man, this movie would have been so frigging fantastic if Kubrick had just lived a little longer. As it is, he must be fuming up there in heaven, sharpening his halo and waiting for Spielberg to join him, so Stan can throw that shining frisbee like a berserk Odd Job and give Steven the haircut he richly deserves.
