Kirk's
Wife Death Tragedy
William Shatner,
alias Classic Trek's Captain Kirk, has been put through the emotional
wringer recently when he found his wife of two years, Nerine, dead
in the swimming pool of their LA home.
It was an apparent
drowning which authorities said they were treating as an accident.
Poor old Shatner
said told the legion of reporters who rolled up that 'she meant
everything to me'.
Our William
arrived home at in the late evening and found Nerine at the bottom
of the pool.
He called an
ambulance and dragged his wife out of the pool, trying to revive
her with CPR. Unfortunately he was just too late, and the paramedics
who turned up had no more luck using their equipment.
Hollywood's
over-abundant scandal machine has been on overdrive in the weeks
since the accident, focusing on the fact that Nerine was a recovering
alcoholic and that her drinking problems had caused problems shortly
before the couple's marriage.
William had
been helping his wife, a former model, in her fight to stay on the
wagon.
Since her death
Shatner - now 68, no age to lose someone you love that much - is
said to have been drifting about in a daze, distraught.
They were married
towards the end of 1997 - the third marriage for Shatner.
This is another
sad moment for Trek fans who have been in mourning since June, when
DeForest Kelley, alias the grumpy but compassionate Doctor McCoy,
passed away at the age of 79 after a protracted battle against illness.
