Movie
download round-up.
Gentlemen (and ladies), slip your Quicktime Multimedia
ammunition clip into your PC, stop your grin'n and drop your linen
... because it's time for a quick round-up of all the hot science
fiction and fantasy movies trailers and clips that are fit to download
online.
1) Ghosts of Mars
From the director of Escape From New York, John Carpenter's Ghosts
of Mars is a tale of rescue and escape from a colonized Mars
in the year 2025.
Long inhabited by human settlers, the Red Planet
has become the manifest destiny of an overpopulated Earth. Nearly
640,000 people now live and work all over Mars, mining the planet
for its abundant natural resources.
But one of those mining operations has uncovered
a deadly mother lode: a long-dormant Martian civilization whose
warriors are systematically taking over the bodies of human intruders.
Lt. Melanie Ballard (Natasha Henstridge) of the
Martian Police Force is on transport assignment to bring James "Desolation"
Williams (Ice Cube), the planet's most notorious criminal, to justice.
Williams has no plans to make Ballard's job easy,
and what begins as a battle of force and wits between cop and criminal
soon turns into something more fundamental: a battle for human survival
in the realm of the Martian warriors.
It's civilization against civilization as Ballard
and Williams join forces in mortal combat with the Ghosts of Mars.

3) Shrek
Don't be put off by the fact that the title of this animated fantasy
movie sounds like one of those made-up swear words used by characters
in 2000AD.
Based on a children's fantasy novel, it's actually
tipped to be a monster hit in the USA, featuring a green ogre who
asks that others in the Kingdom judge him for what he can do for
them, rather than how he looks.
A lot of the movie's subtext rips into Disney,
which is not surprising, seeing it's been created by Jeffrey Katzenberg
- who left Disney when they wouldn't promote him to the number two
spot.
Eddie Murphy plays Shrek, the ogre, and the movie
also has the voices of Mike Myers and Cameron Diaz - the latter
as the obligatory princess.

4) Evolution
Ivan Reitman, who made "ghostbusting" a household
word with his comedies "Ghostbusters" and "Ghostbusters II," now
takes on the theory of "Evolution."
The movie follows the chaos that ensues when a
meteor hits the earth carrying alien life forms that give new meaning
to the term "survival of the fittest."
David Duchovny ("The X-Files," "Return to Me"),
Orlando Jones ("Bedazzled," "The Replacements"), Seann William Scott
("Road Trip," "American Pie") and two-time Oscar nominee Julianne
Moore ("The End of the Affair," "Boogie Nights") star as the only
people standing between the aliens and world domination…which could
be bad news for the earth.
